May 14, and May 15, 2011. 9 am to 5 pm
At the Victoria Curling Club 1952 Quadra St.
For people like us, and all other book lovers, this weekend is a big deal, we just love to roam about between the Ten's of Thousands of Books, Books and more Books....... Yipeee and we find all our fiction some none fiction to read for the next year or so by "recycling" some awesome books, save a bundle of money and help a great cause all at the same, a true win, win, win situation.
As in the past, All proceeds will go to Literacy and Education programs in Greater Victoria and on Vancouver Island.
We call book lovers like us "Bookworm's as a term of endearment, in addition, Peter and his Parents owned a chain of bookstores that were called "De Boekenwurm" way back when in a previous life in Holland, so we have a little trip down memory lane when we see that many books and bookworms all together.....The picture in this post is an Dutch artist "Anton Pieck's" impression of Peter's grandfather's store in Amsterdam. as you may note in top right corner the family bookstore name.
Back to the fun for this weekend, which is made possible by The Victoria Times Colonist (Victoria's Daily Newspaper), they coordinate this huge book sale undertaking, with the help of literally hundreds of volunteers to receive, collect, sort, sift, and price the various books by type, value and topic.
Except for the None-fiction and collectors section all fiction hardcovers are $ 3.00, soft-covers are $ 2.00 and pocket-books and children's books are $ 1.00
Every year we look forward to these treasure hunt days and we have never been disappointed, so if you want to add a few Pfanntastic Books to your library, have a little fun, and help a great cause, chances are that you will see us at this year's book sale, together with all the other local Greater Victoria Bookworm's
