Empower People Around the World...... $ 25.00 at the time
Yesterday we noticed a post by Richard Ruggaber from LA, who by way of kiva.org is providing funding for "micro loans" to those in countries, situations and environments that would not otherwise be able to obtain a loan to start or grow their own small business. For Linda and I and in our little way we hope to pay it forward.
To be honest, we had heard of Kiva a few years ago, but more or less lost track, so Thank you Richard for reminding us about this innovative way to provide assistance and opportunity for those with a entrepreneurial concept to help themselves and their community, in areas where otherwise these opportunities would be nearly impossible to fund.....
The KIVA concept is very simple;
- Together with a number of other like-minded people, we provide a small loan as a group to selected individuals and or groups, and once the loan is granted the funds are used to start or grow a small business or project, and over a relative short period of time the loan gets repaid into your Kiva account and made available to lend out again.....
- All the administration and everything else is looked after by Kiva and their local financial organizations in the respective areas in the world.
We have just started working with Kiva, but I can tell you already we are very impressed with their commitment to help other help themselves as well as their communications with us about progress and status about the people and groups we have selected so far. We are very pleased to introduce the 4 current microloans that we have participated in .
We hope that in a small way we can provide the funding and encouragement for others to help themselves, and although we don't really believe in padding ourselves on the back, we feel by posting this article, we may stimulate others to consider helping in your own personal way if and where possible. For us Kiva is a Pfanntastic way to empower people around the world, one small loan at the time.
