36 th. Annual Victoria BC, Flower Count March 01 - 07 2012
Yes your read that correctly, for the past 36 years Greater Victorians go out and count flowers in our fun loving way to kinda rub it in to the rest of Canada and parts of the USA, where winter, snow and frosty conditions are preventing any flowers to show until weeks from now.....
Even during (what we considered) the chilly 2011 Victoria Flower Count the total Tally was 260,457,579 flowers in the region......Most anticipate that this year will be much better, and with March 01, 2012, being one of those amazingly beautiful days in Victoria, you can almost hear all the bulbs pop, and the flowers race out of the ground....
Driving down View St. to day I counted over 25 cherry trees in blossom, and in and around the inner harbour in downtown Victoria, there are flowers everywhere.
How do we count these flowers you ask..... Well here is the very sophisticated counting system.....
- Small tree full of blossoms = 250,000 blossoms
- Medium tree full of blossoms = 500,000 blossoms
- Large tree full of blossoms = 750,000 blossoms
- Small Heather bush = 500 blossoms
- Medium Heather bush = 1,000 blossoms
- Large Heather bush = 2,000 blossoms
Once You have completed a daily count, or little tour, tally your daily count and submit them to www.flowercount.com, that is it......
This is a Pfanntastic Way we Residents of Greater Victoria Get to Gloat, and feel great about living in Paradise......
If while you go around town or stroll in your own Garden, take pictures of some of the flowers in and around town, be sure to submit them to the www.flowercount.com website as well.
